Attendance,
Lunch arrangements and Detentions
Attendance
School attendance
is compulsory. Only the school can give permission for planned absence. If
you require to take your child out of school for a holiday, you must put your
request in writing asking the Headteacher for permission. This will never be agreed during the times of school and national examinations.
If your child
is absent from School because of illness please make sure you let us know
as soon as possible and a note should be sent to school on your child's return
and given to his/her Registration Tutor.
Please try, as
far as possible, to avoid making dental appointments etc. during school hours.
In the interests of safety, any requests to leave school during the day must
be given in writing to your child's tutor. Letters requesting permission to
leave school should be given in to the Registration Tutor for authorisation. Again
we ask for your co-operation.
If your child is
hurt or becomes ill at school he/she should speak to a member of staff before
going to see one of the designated First Aiders. Parents will be contacted
as necessary. Medicines should be left with the designated First Aider in
the School Office. A signed note must be sent to school authorising the school to administer any prescribed medicine. Other tablets or medicines will not be administered.
Lunch Arrangements
There is a range
of food on sale in the school Cafeteria. Food and drink bought in the dining
room must be eaten in the Cafeteria.
The only students
in Year 7 allowed to leave the school at lunchtime are those who go home for
lunch. They should bring to School a signed and dated letter at the start
of each term giving your permission. The letter must be shown to the Head
Teacherr. We ask for your help and support in this matter.
Arrangements exist
for students entitled to a free meal and provision is made in the Dining Room
for those wishing to bring packed lunches.
Detentions
Remember that the
school does not need parental permission to detain students after 3.00 p.m.
for a ten minute detention, but will always give you 24 hours notice
for a ½ hour or longer school detention. This notice will be given to your child the
day before the detention is due. It is your child's responsibility to show
you this note.
No students
are exempt from serving a school detention at the end of the school day.
Evening School
In exceptional circumstances, students whose conduct disrupts the learning of others will be enrolled in an evening school from 3.00pm until 6.00pm. This is usually given to a child who has not responded to previous warnings, advice or counselling.
