Bullying

Bullying is a deliberate attempt by an individual or group to hurt, tease, torment, threaten, frighten or exclude someone. Bullying can be physical, emotional or verbal in nature.

Your Rights

At The Ridings School we believe that you have the right:

  • to live your life in peace and safety
  • to be an individual and be proud of being different
  • to say "no" firmly to anything you think is wrong
  • to protect yourself by ignoring others, or by walking away
  • to tell a member of staff if someone is making you unhappy
  • not to be bullied

Your Responsibilities

At The Ridings School we believe you have these responsibilities:

  • not to be a bully
  • not to put up with any form of bullying
  • to work with others to stop bullying
  • to inform a member of staff of any form of bullying
  • not to be afraid of reporting any incidents (doing nothing suggests you are supporting bullying)
  • not to put up with bullies in your group of friends

You do not have to put up with bullies

Tell someone if it happens to you

Tell if you see it happening to others
