Drama is offered to every student in the school in KS3 where they attend one lesson each week. Drama is taught by Mr B Wood, Mr J Doyle, Mrs L Rajakrishnen and Mrs C Croft in a purpose built Drama Studio.

Departmental Aims & Objectives:  

In drama, students not only learn all the skills required for the stage and performance such as: Acting techniques, creating a character, costume design, set design, Lighting & Sound, Script work, devised work & Improvisation, they also learn how valuable social and personal skills which help them build up confidence, work as a member of a team, create self-esteem. Drama lessons at The Ridings School are always educational AND FUN.

AQA GCSE Drama

AQA GCSE Double Award Performing Arts

If students opt for GCSE Drama they have 3 lessons each week, but are also required to put in extra time for rehearsals as they participate in a number of performances each year.

Post 16

BTEC National Award in Performing Arts (Acting) – 1 year

BTEC National Award in Performing Arts (Design) – 1 year

BTEC National Certificate in Performing Arts (Acting) – 2 years

BTEC National Certificate in Performing Arts (Design) – 2 years

Performing Arts can be studied at Post 16 where students can follow one of the pathways above.
