We pride ourselves in running a Whole school production each year, as well as taking part in other performances on a smaller scale.

2004-2005

November 2004:

As part of the GCSE course, KS4 students are involved in a Theatre in Education tour to feeder primary schools. The aim of the performance is to produce a play or show with an educational aim and perform it for a target audience. Last year the show hoped to teach children the dangers of talking to strangers.. We visited 6 primary schools which loved the show and have asked us to come back next year (Which we will).

February 2005:

The Lowdown.

Our major school production was the Hip-Hop musical THE LOWDOWN, about a group of teenager who want to escape from the society they live in and make it big in the music industry. We performed the show for 3 nights to a full audience.

July 2005:

BBC

1 Night of Shakespeare festival

On the 3 rd July, a cast of 25 talented students from The Ridings School took part in the BBC 1 Night of Shakespeare festival. We performed ‘Romeo and Juliet’ to an audience of over 200 people at the priestly theatre in Bradford. To make the play original, we set in it in the 1970’s and added music from the Bee Gees to give it a Saturday Night Fever style. The performance was a great success and not only gave the cast valuable experience of performing in a professional theatre, we also made it into the Guinness book of world records along with 400 schools whom were all performing Shakespeare playas at the same time around the country.
