BTEC National Diploma in Sport
Description
Students in year 11 are currently completing the BTEC National Diploma in Sport. This equates to 4 GCSE’s A-C. The course involves studying such areas as; The Body in Sport, Health Safety and injury in Sport, Preparation for Sport, Practical sport. In addition to this all BTEC students complete their Level one sports leaders’ award and a first aid qualification

There are 2 x 50 minute lessons = 100 minutes per week.
Students follow the national curriculum but have a more flexible timetable than in KS3. Students select from a variety of activities to follow for that half term. These activities cover the following pathways; Aesthetics, Team/ strategy, Outdoor Education and fitness. This has included such activities as football, netball, orienteering, team building skills and health related fitness.

Extra Curricular
All Students are offered a variety of extra curricular activities. In the school year 2007/08, this included several diverse activities such as; boxing, swimming, golf, street dance. As well as more traditional sports such as football, netball, cricket, rounders and badminton
Competitions – The school competes in the Football league, Netball league, indoor Cricket league, Rugby League, Cross country and the Athletics tournaments. In 2007/08 the school also participated in Basketball friendlies and entered the Softball league.
