Dress code
At The Ridings School we have developed a simple and practical uniform.
For school we expect students to be smart and take a pride in their appearance. We expect all garments to be of a standard style: extremes of fashion in clothing or appearance, are inappropriate for the school day. e.g. high shoes/cropped trousers/hooded tops.
Most of our parents are very supportive over uniform, and the majority of our students are smart and a credit to themselves and their families. Please remember that we expect every student in Years 7 to 11 to dress according to the following guidelines.
uniform
- Black footwear. These can be black shoes or trainers
- Black trousers
- Black skirt (not full length or very short)
- Ridings sweater
- White formal dress shirt
- School tie:
- Narrow stripe for years 7 & 8
- Broad stripe for years 9, 10 and 11
Personal Appearance
- If ears are pierced, studs are the only earrings allowed (facial studs are not allowed)
- Hair should be of a reasonable colour and length (no shaven heads, or extreme styles)
- Jewellery should be left at home for safety reasons. (see below)
Please do not allow your child to bring valuable items into school as we regret that we cannot be responsible for their loss. All such items brought into school are the student's responsibility. e.g. watches/mobile phones etc.
Please check your child as they leave for school and make sure that any jewellery is left safely at home. If students continue to ignore this rule then the jewellery will be confiscated and held pending collection by adult members of the family.
